At MyHoodd, we believe that you should have absolute control over your personal data. This Delete Account Policy details how you can request the permanent deletion of your account and clarifies what data is removed, what is retained, and the timeframe for this process.
1. How to Delete Your Account
We provide two direct methods to delete your MyHoodd account—either instantly inside the mobile app or via our online support channel:
Option A: Inside the MyHoodd Mobile App (Instant)
- Open the MyHoodd app and go to your **Profile** tab.
- Scroll down to the **Settings** card and tap the **Delete Account** option.
- Review the data loss warning and confirm your decision by tapping the red **Delete Forever** button.
- Your account will be deactivated immediately, and a database purge request will be initiated.
Option B: Via Email Request
If you have uninstalled the app or are unable to log in, you can request account deletion by emailing our support team:
- Send an email to 📩 support@myhoodd.com with the subject line "Delete My Account".
- Please send the email from the email address registered to your MyHoodd account.
- Our support team will verify your ownership and process the deletion request within 48-72 hours.
2. What Information is Deleted?
When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently erased from our active databases and servers:
- Account Profile: Your name, username, biography, registered email address, hashed password, and phone number.
- Authentication Tokens: All active sessions, login keys, and linked Google Sign-In connections.
- User-Generated Content: All posts, text updates, questions, polls, comments, nested replies, likes, reactions, and direct message history.
- Uploaded Media: Your uploaded profile pictures, post photos, and attachments stored on our secure media servers.
- Private Data: Your saved settings, notification configurations, location logs, and preferences.
3. What Information is Retained and Why?
In general, no personally identifiable information is retained. The only data that is temporarily or automatically kept includes:
- Security & System Logs: Anonymized technical server access logs (free of any personal identifiers) to ensure security and analyze app performance.
- Encrypted Backups: System backups are kept for a rolling recovery period of 30 days, after which they are completely overwritten. Your data is automatically removed from these backups as they cycle out.
4. Data Deletion Timeline
⚡ Active DB Purge: Immediately upon confirmation, your account is deactivated, and data deletion starts. Deletion from all active databases and servers is completed within 24 hours.
💾 Backup Removal: Data stored in secure offline backups will be completely overwritten and removed within 30 days.
