Welcome to MyHoodd. At MyHoodd (accessible from https://myhoodd.com and our mobile application), your privacy is one of our main priorities. This Privacy Policy document explains how we collect, use, process, share, and protect your information when you use our location-based social networking platform.

This Privacy Policy is designed to comply with general data protection regulations (including GDPR), as well as the developer policies of the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. By using MyHoodd, you consent to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

We collect several types of information to provide and improve our services, customize your experience, and connect you with your local community:

A. Account and Profile Information

Basic Credentials: When you register an account, we collect your name, username, email address, password, and optional phone number.
Google Sign-In Data: If you choose to log in using Google Sign-In, we receive authentication tokens, your name, profile photo, and email address from Google.
Bio and Profile Details: You may choose to customize your profile by adding a biography, location preferences, and uploading a profile picture.

B. User-Generated Content

We collect the content you create, upload, or share on MyHoodd, including:

Posts, text updates, questions, and polls.
Images and video thumbnails that you upload to community feeds (Hoods) or chat rooms.
Comments, nested replies, likes, and reactions.
Direct messages (DMs) and group chat messages sent through our in-app chat systems.

C. Device Permissions

To deliver MyHoodd's core local experience, we request permission to access certain features on your mobile device:

📍 Location Services (GPS): We request access to your device's precise location (GPS and network-based). This location data is used to place you in the correct city, show you nearby interest circles (Hoods), display local feeds, and recommend neighborhoods. You can control or revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings.

📷 Camera and Photo Library: We request permission to access your camera and photo gallery. This allows you to snap and upload profile pictures, share images in chat rooms, or attach photos to community posts.

D. Technical and Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you interact with the app, including device models, operating system version, unique device identifiers, IP addresses, log file statistics, and user interaction analytics (e.g., clicks, session durations, and screen transitions).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for various purposes aimed at optimizing and securing your neighborhood social experience:

To create, manage, and verify your MyHoodd account.
To display relevant local content, city feeds, and nearby community posts.
To facilitate messaging, chat requests, and notifications between users.
To recommend matching local areas and neighborhoods based on your relocation profile.
To scan and moderate user-uploaded images and posts for community safety (protecting against harassment, spam, and explicit content).
To analyze app performance, fix bugs, and log analytics using secure services.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We only share information in the following circumstances:

Public Feed & Profile: Your username, name, profile picture, bio, and community posts are visible to other users on the platform to encourage social connection.
Service Providers: We may share hashed/anonymized identifiers with trusted third-party analytics (like Google Analytics) and cloud service providers to maintain backend operations.
Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or in response to valid requests by public authorities to protect user safety and security.

4. User Control, Rights, and GDPR Compliance

Under regulations like the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right to Access: You can request copies of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to Rectification: You can edit your profile information (name, username, bio, avatar) directly inside the app settings.
Right to Deletion (Right to be Forgotten): You have the absolute right to request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated data. See Section 5 for details.
Right to Withdraw Consent: You can turn off device permissions (Location, Camera, Gallery) at any time in your device's settings menu.

5. Account Deletion and Data Retention

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide MyHoodd's services. If you choose to delete your account:

You can delete your account instantly by navigating to the Profile Screen > Settings > Delete Account within the mobile app.
Upon deletion, your profile records, personal details, posts, comments, direct messages, photos, and credentials are permanently and completely purged from our active databases and servers.

6. Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS encryption and token-based authentication, to secure your personal data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

MyHoodd is intended for individuals who are at least 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can take steps to remove it.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
